The First Session: It All Starts Here

As MightyPrep is a test-a-week program, many Preppers and their parents wonder what we do during the very first session, before students have had a chance to complete a full practice SAT or ACT. (Students need not, and should not, take a practice test before the first meeting). The short answer is a great deal!

Session No. 1 is a tightly organized 90-minute program that follows a set order of topics, including

  • How to use the test-taking watch and timing guide

  • How to take the practice tests at home to ensure reliable scores

  • Student responsibilities regarding homework, attendance, and note review

  • Student informational intake, including all previous scores (PSAT, diagnostic tests), GPA, score and college goals

  • And the grand finale, a 53-slide deck on the SAT (or ACT) covering its essential differences from 'regular schoolwork' (both in how the test approaches school subjects, and how students must approach the test), its history, how and why it is 'curved,' and the fundamentals of our CLÜ-DÜ Test Decoder prep method.

Session One lays the theoretical and strategic groundwork for our future work together -- as well as delivers actionable, pragmatic advice Preppers can apply to their first practice test. The session ends the same way every time — with a question. “Did you learn something today about the SAT?” The answers are always affirmative!
