Tips for MightyPrep Parents

Give It Time. Reprogramming study skills and mastering fundamentals does not happen overnight. We recommend a commitment of at least 10-12 weeks in advance of the test administration.

  • Encourage Consistent Attendance. Weekly score growth depends on weekly session attendance. We understand the insanity that is a high school student’s schedule, but if a high SAT / ACT score is a priority, then your child’s consistent attendance is a necessity.

• If your child needs to reschedule, let us know as soon as you can. We usually can find another time-slot if alerted up to 24 hours before the agreed-upon session; after that, we have to charge a missed lesson fee (1 hour). Complete no-shows are charged for the entire 1.5 hour session.

  • Make Space for Homework. Every student is expected to take a full practice test every week for homework. (Expectations for accommodated students vary based on their needs). If your child is taking his or her practice tests at home, please provide a dedicated space that is neutral — i.e.not his or her bedroom — and device-free. We provide students with watches so they do not need to use their phones for pacing.

  • Test Conditions Matter. Breaking up a practice test over multiple days, doing sections out of order, or taking the test very late at night can all seriously undermine the validity of the resulting scores. For creating the perfect testing environment check out these seven steps.

  • Stay Positive. Let us worry about scores and strategy. You are free to be your child’s cheerleader. Praise him or her for their commitment, and keep the focus on the process rather than the product.

  • Have a questions? Want to talk? Call us! We want to hear your questions, concerns and observations firsthand. Don’t wait: Call your tutor directly.
