Academic Coaching

What is academic coaching?

While tutoring is concerned with what students learn, academic coaching focuses on how students learn -- and how they can learn better.

We work with students one-on-one to improve focus, executive functioning, time-management, task prioritization, goal setting, and much more.

Based on the principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, academic coaching identifies behavioral patterns which inhibit student success -- and then suggests new growth-focused strategies in their place. Drawing on our experience helping a wide variety of learners, we develop pathways to student empowerment that are personal, proven and practical.

Coaching finds structured solutions to specific problems, including

  • Ending procrastination

  • Managing short-term (homework) and long-term (projects) academic assignments

  • Breaking down complex projects into manageable tasks

  • Maintaining a planner or academic schedule

  • Improving prioritization skills

  • Reducing stress through mindfulness

  • Setting S.M.A.R.T. goals
